In December 1894, Alphonse Mucha (Czech, 1860 - ?1939) created the definitive Art Nouveau masterpiece under considerable pressure: the formidable Sarah Bernhardt commissioned a poster for a play and gave Mucha less than a week to have it on the street. Not only did he succeed, but he executed his Gismonda poster in a completely new style, which was greeted with great enthusiasm. Famous overnight, Mucha worked prolifically in his self-invented genre; this calendar presents twelve of his stunning works. This 2006 Wall calendar was published by Pomegranate.
