| Edward Hopper Calendar, Wall, Pomegranate
Before Edward Hopper came along, the convention in American landscape painting was to romanticize one's subject. Hopper (1882 - 1967) broke that law: telephone poles and power lines, peeling paint and utilitarian structures are prominent and even dramatic elements in his work. But light, whether straight from a blue Maine sky or filtered by big-city particulates, is consistently a major feature of Hopper's paintings. Presented here are Early Sunday Morning, Cape Cod Sunset, Seven A.M., and the surprising Soir Bleu. This 2006 Wall calendar was published by Pomegranate.
