| Bulbs to Blossoms Calendar, Wall, Portal Publications
Bulbs are one of nature's miracles of plant survival. A storage organ, bulbs enable plants to lie dormant in the soil during harsh conditions (such as cold winters or dry summers). Many bulbs - like tulips, daffodils, and garden lilies - are extremely hardy; others, like begonias and dahlias, are frost tender, but after a relatively long blooming period during summer and autumn, can be lifted from the soil and stored for the following year.
