| Harvard University Calendar, Wall, Mahoney Publishing
Harvard University is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Harvard College was founded in 1636 by a vote of the Great and General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. It was named in honor of its first benefactor, John Harvard, who upon his death in 1638 left half his estate and his entire library consisting of 400 volumes to the fledgling college. With over 350 years of history, Harvard has grown from a tiny college with one headmaster and an enrollment of nine students to an institution consisting of Harvard College and ten graduate and professional schools with an enrollment of approximately 18,000 students overall. This 2006 Wall calendar was published by Mahoney Publishing.
