| Tribal Colors Calendar, Wall, Tide-Mark
Papua New Guinea boasts 30,000 years of human lineage, but only thirty-one years as a country. Ancient tribal customs here are as diverse as the countrys 1,400 islands stretching along the Coral Sea north of Australia. Among these tribes, spirit masks play a traditional role in ceremony and celebration that is now beginning to disappear. In Tribal Colors, artist Nathalie Le Riche paints these dramatic faces to commemorate their tribal history. Sales of the calendar benefit the Rotary Club of Kimbe, a nonprofit group involved in community projects such as supplying water to villages, organizing career fairs, aiding in malaria prevention, and more. This 2006 Wall calendar was published by Tide-Mark.
