| Chinese Landscape Paintings Calendar, Wall, Pomegranate
In a tradition that stretches unbroken from the fourth century until today, Chinese artists have interpreted nature through a slow-changing succession of styles and conventions. Some of the scroll paintings reproduced here represent fantastical landscapes and rock formations of the imagination; others, such as The Stone Table Garden, reveal realistic scenes that are freighted with symbolism and literary reference. In nearly all, mists and fog figure strongly in their composition and in the wistful peace they evoke. This 2006 Wall calendar was published by Pomegranate.
